THE ORIGIN STORY
From 2 AM Google Searches To
Multiple Six Figures.
2017. My husband and I were pastoring together. He got a promotion that moved us to South Carolina, and we felt the pull to leave vocational ministry.
Suddenly, he was working crazy retail hours. I was home with five kids. And we needed income.
I remember sitting on the couch at 2 AM—baby finally asleep—Googling “how to make money from home with littles.”
That’s when I discovered the online business world and learned what a virtual assistant was.
I had no business background. No entrepreneurial experience. No trust fund. Just a baby monitor, a prayer, and a lot of desperation.
I started serving clients as a VA and fell in love with the work—specifically the systems and processes behind it. I evolved from virtual assistant to operations consultant, launched a systems setup process, then a VA agency.
The business grew. Fast.
By 2022, I was running a multiple six-figure agency. Making great money. Living the “dream.”
Except I was miserable.
The Mac & Cheese Moment That Changed Everything.
Summer 2022.
I was standing in my kitchen making mac & cheese for the third time that week—not because my kids love it, but because I was too exhausted to cook anything else.
My laptop was open on the counter. Again. At 7 PM. Again.
I was running a multiple six-figure business. I was “successful.” And I was miserable.
My 10-year-old daughter looked at me and asked:
“Mom, when are you going to be done working?”
I looked at her. Then at my laptop. Then back at her.
I left a demanding job to be MORE present. Instead, I created a business that demanded even more.
That night, I made a decision:
If I couldn’t build a business that honored my family, I didn’t want the business.
So I started asking different questions:
“What if I closed my laptop at 4pm? – Every day?”
“What if I stopped trying to “manage time better” and started building systems that worked WITHOUT me?”
“What if I scaled my MARGIN at the same rate I scaled my REVENUE?
That’s when everything changed.
Here's What Happened When I Stopped Hustling Harder
I stopped doing MORE and started doing LESS. I stopped managing time and started building systems.
The Results:
CLOSED my laptop at 4 PM daily (non-negotiable now).
SCALED to multiple six figures while REDUCING my working hours.
FRIDAY AFTERNOONS became sacred time with my teens.
NEVER MISSED another bedtime story.
BUILT FRAMEWORKS that other CEO parents could use.
My business didn’t fall apart when I set boundaries. It got BETTER.
Because I finally understood:
more hustle won’t fix a broken business model.
The Non-Negotiables That Guide Everything I Do
I’m a mom first. Five kids ages 2–14. They are the reason I do this work—and the reason I refuse to compromise on boundaries.
I close my laptop at 4 PM. Every. Single. Day. If my business can’t run without me working nights and weekends, my business is broken.
Friday afternoons are for time with my teens. It’s on my calendar like a board meeting because it IS one—a meeting with what actually matters.
I never miss morning hugs. My kids get my best energy, not my leftovers.
Sundays are OFF. Old pastor habit. I’m keeping it.
